MG MGA - Not MGA But Can You Help

I have just had an email from someone with some excellent data for my Shelley Jack database. He also included a picture of a car his late father used to own. He could not identify it. I think it may be a Ford Model A (1927 to 1931). Can someone confirm, or tell me what it is?

(It may have had a 7" Shelley jack as equipment in the UK).

Thanks

Steve

Steve, Ford Model A Coupe perhaps?

Lindsay Sampford

I don't think Ford "A" but angular radiator surround (possibly Rugby Four?). English bodies differed from those made in Oz.
Barry Bahnisch

I think it's closer to home (Abingdon).

My (educated) guess is a flatnose Morris Cowley. It has the same three wheelnuts and toolbox(?) on the running board as other Cowleys on the 'net.

Earley MG's were actually special bodied Cowleys/Oxfords

My money is on your analysis. Lots of similarities. same horizontally split windscreen; lights look the same.

It is definetly not a Ford product, and no idea what it might be.

Just noticed this thread. My first thought was M.G. 14/40, though it would normally carry a spare wheel on the offside.

But then - in pre-war M.G. nothing was necessarily normal.

Nick

Thanks Nick. It certainly looks out of the same stable. I contacted the enquiry and he seems to recall his father referring to a Morris. He is delighted with the response.

OK, the Robin Lawton link doesn't work but it's the very last car in the 'Cars for sale' section

Yes, saw that blue one after you put me on the Morris. Those 2 boot locks and the boot handle look the same.
