It looks to be in pretty good shape! I'd love to see the 'after' pictures.

Hi Colin/ Larry

It seems hardly anytime at all since I drove it into my garage, now its a pile of bits. I put new sills on the body everthing else was good. The chassis has two of the floorboard supports with some corrosion which will be replaced after cleaning. Other than that it was in great condition. The guy doing the sand blasting is spraying it with primer after which I'll replace the supports and get it painted black. I'll post pictures after both stages. Meanwhile here's the body.

Barry,

I'd love to see some pics of the sill replacement. I'm getting ready to do mine in the 1st week of October. I'll need all of the mindshare that I can get from this forum.

Thanks

Rick

Wow, that picture takes me back to when I did mine ... nearly 40 years ago! In many ways I wish I could wind the clock back and do it all over again, as I made lots of mistakes along the way, some of which have come back to haunt me. Having said that, it was well worth the effort, and as Colin says, don't rush it. If only the internet had been around in the '70s, I could have called for help when I needed it, rather than relying on instinct! Good luck.

I am coming to the end of my latest restoration and detailed it all here:

Hi Rick

I just read and read again Barney' site about sill replacement and when I started it became even more obvious. Clean metal is the key.

Best of luck with the resto.

Hi

Here's the front of the RHS.

Hi

Collected the chassis this afternoon. Mmmmm looks good in epoxy primer now, as the Stones song goes I want it painted black. One small piece of floorboard rail to repair first though.
A classic owners work is never done.

Hi

Back to black.

Beautiful.
Did you have to repair the floorboard rails? They usually rust out at the frame.
Art Pearse

Hi Art

Just a small section on the drivers footwell.

Outstanding work, I'm looking forward to the rest of the restoration.

Hi Rick

Not sure where you are in Mass but we have a few of the guys MGA restorations under way on the south shore if you’re interested in taking a peak. I have my sills repaired and am working on the front suspension now...
