MG MGA - Off Topic - Tracing an Owner
Sorry, this is a bit off topic but I guess it is applicable to any vehicle. Can anyone offer advice? I am digitising hundreds of old family pictures and came across some of my Father-in-Law with one of his 3 Morgan 3-wheelers in the early 30s. I did a search of the DVLA and it appears the car is still registered and on the road. I would like to pass copies of the photos to the current owner. Does the DVLA help out in this matter? If so, what do I need to do. Of course, as a bonus, it would be nice to see the car. These cars currently go for about £40,000 and he had 3! Wish he had kept them. They were pennies second hand back in those days and he used them as an economic stepping stone from his motor bikes to 4-wheeled cars which were taxed much higher. Steve ![]() |

Hi Steve the DVLA used to be able to forward your letter for you to the current owner for a payment of £5 I don't know if they still do that, it worked for my old MGA that I had back in 1976 and I still in contact with it's current owner cheers Gordon |

Hi Steve, I know several people who work in Morgans. I wonder if they would have records, perhaps the current owners has bought spares, and they have a note of his Reg.Nos. Email me with details if you want me to enquire. Regards Nigel |

Hi Steve, Google DVLA v888 form. I've found you need to make your request very very simple for them otherwise it's simply rejected. Done even bother asking to be put in contact with the owner / keeper. Your much better of going via a club. Good, luck Mark |

Thanks all for your thoughts. I had already downloaded the V888 but was not sure if it was the correct form for my type of query. A number of years ago, before I knew that car in the picture was still around, I contacted the 3-Wheeler club and they were very enthusiastic about it. Apparently it was the first of a new model and was the display car at the Earls Court Motor Show one year in the late 20s/early 30s. They had never seen a picture of it before so I have my doubts if the owner or museum etc belong to one of the Morgan clubs. Nevertheless, I will ask the question. Steve |

I have emailed the 3-wheeler club. On reflection I think it was one of his other 2 Morgans (photo) that was at the Motor Show. The Morgan officials did see all my photos and never made a comment about one of the cars still being around. The one in this attached photo does not show on the DVLA website. I have also attached one of his early motor cycle photos. It was all 'proper' machinery in those days! I will let you know what response I get. Steve ![]() |

Hi Steve You may also want to try kithead trust for vehicle records. They hold the pre dvla records for some counties but not all. Thanks Mark |
