MG MGA - original and low miles
Hi pinched this from another site http://bringatrailer.com/2010/12/19/bat-exclusive-6374-mile-original-paint-1960-mga-roadster/comment-page-1/#comment-194831 Gordon |

One might wonder why the boot floor and battery cover look so beat up, yet the extior looks so good. GTF |

I agree with GTF Some parts of the car look pleasantly original other areas look like over restored cars? Very strange? maybe the photographs |

I also wonder about that bit of body-colored wire running through the boot. Not to say that I'd put it past MG to do that mind you, but still I find it a bit strange looking. Seems to be a nice car though. Personally, I never have understood this "all original" obsession anyway. |

Well, as anyone reading my previous posts will know, I'm always very sceptical and highly critical of the cars that get flagged up here, especially if they have pretences. But I have to say that all the details on this car look right to me and it appears to be a genuine low mileage unmolested car. Extremely rare. I would be very happy to own it! |

Unusual to see one with all its original toolkit intact including the Sutty pump and King Dick jack. Probably why Gordon zeroed in on it! Steve |

that bit of body-colored wire running through the boot is the boot-releae rod. Definitely a desirable and original feature! |

Hi Steve, I was hoping there would be a photo of the tools lol Gordon |

Ha, yes you're right Dominic... there goes my career as a concourse judge, no wonder it looked strange! |

We have an original early model MGA (fully imported, Abingdon plate, etc) here in Adelaide (Oz). In fact, I just remembered that I had one myself! Apart from the instruments there are quite a few detail differences, wheel arch inners come to mind (no "flats" for trunking, etc?). Soon after, MGA's were assembled in Sydney with Australian colours, electrical equipment, trim materials, etc. My 1600 roadster is a case in point. |
