MG MGA - Original parts & nuts/bolts
Is there a good source for original parts around besides the 'common' California supplier? I used them in years back and they seem to be getting worse, at least for TC/TD/TF parts. Also, Is there a source for bolts & nuts with original head stamps ? I cleaned up a few 5/16-24 nuts that have an 'R' stamp, is this a manufacturer stamp ? Brad |

Brad, By far the best supplier anywhere of MGA fasteners is Todd Clarke. He did buy up old stocks of screws, etc. back in the 1970s from original UK manufacturers although I doubt if he still has any left now. I would also strongly recommend Todd's 'MGA Information and Technical Guide' which includes information on embossed screw head letters..............Mike |

Hi Mike. I did contact Todd @ Clarke Spares and he did have stock in years past but they are long gone. Thx. Brad |

That's it, once they're gone they're gone! |

I stripped a couple of Austin A40's 25 years ago, purely for the bolts. Early Jaguar XJ6 cars may also have GKN and Bees branded hardware. 420's and Mk10's certainly do, and are cheap enough in wreck form to cannibalize. |

I always assumed Todd was making these. I had purchased quite a few some years ago, they looked like new. Even had the end "point" on them for ease of assembly. I had noticed recently however, that they did not seem to be available in his catalog now. So I guess the hardware on my restoration is "period correct"... |
