MG MGA - original tool kit?

A very nice tool kit has just appeared on Ebay which I'm thinking of bidding on. Can I ask the experts their opinion of this. It is claimed to be unused from 1959. However the material for the roll looks to me more recent than this and a bit plasticky. Any comments ? Mike

That looks like the real deal to me. The plastic tool roll is certainly absolutely correct! Interesting jack, Steve can comment on that! Can't comment on the story, but the tools look right - compare them to Clausagers book p34 too.

Just noticed two of the box spanners are missing. I would expect this kit to go over 400 US maybe even 500 when compared to previous auctions.

From what I understand this is the correct type for the later 1500 and 1600 cars. The small tool roll being deleted for MkII cars.

Hi Mike very similar to the one I have on Fleabay at the moment, the plastic tool roll is correct for the later cars, as Neil says it looks like 2 of the box spanners are missing unless they are inside the large one as they all fit inside the large one, very tempted to bid but that seems a bit silly when I'm selling one lol

also missing would appear to be the two tyre levers

Something wrong there, is someone telling porkies? That's the Shelley LJ23 jack supplied with early 1500s, not the very late 1500s/early 1600s in 1959 which had the King Dick.

That apart, first time I have seen it in grey paint with an MGA.

I have emailed the seller to see if he has any details on the car, i.e. did the captain drive away from the dealership in 1959 in a new car or second hand. If second hand, does he know the chassis number.

Thanks for all your comments, it doesn't appear as good now I know some bits are missing and with the jack not being the right one makes you wonder how true his story is. Mike

Could someone give me the heads up on the color of the tire pump? That one is black and I've also heard they were blue.

I have only ever seen Sutty pumps in black. New one on me.

Gary,
One of the original Sutty pumps that I have is blue in colour and I recall that Todd Clarke's Technical Guide also refers to the blue colour.
