MG MGA - Original Tools Acquired!
Yes, Gordon it is true---It was I who outbid you and others for the original King Dick Jack with bars, and the tube wrenches just recently. Yes, They ARe MINE! MINE I SAY!!! HA, HA, HEH, HEH, HA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excuse me now, I must take my meds and see my banker for a loan.
James Johanski
hi james i can't believe you would do such a thing when you know i'm down to my last 5 kits lol gordon
g c pugh
Good God Gordon! Only five kits--I see a tool famine in the future!
James Johanski
Gordon is building a compound in Cornwall - somewhere up on the moor is just as remote as anything the Branch Davidians could manage....
dominic clancy
you can all mock, but you'll be sorry when the "credit crunch" has ruined all the world economies I'll still have my tool kits lol gordon p.s. I know where you live and my boys are on their way to sort you all out
g c pugh
Gordon Bring them on! Are they armed with Shelley jack handles? May be an inexpensive answer to my quest. Steve
Steve Gyles
This credit crunch is serious. On the news last night one financial analyst was predicting that toolkit prices may fall by up to 11 per cent over the next three years! I hope that your toolkits are not buy to rent Gordon! My problem is that I have not been unfaithful to the mark. It's not just MG toolkits, I also played the field a bit and aquired some shiny Jaguar tools. "Grace, space and pace" you understand! Neil

James Johanski
With the entire world economy at stake you guys are driving the whole process in a terrible upward spiral with your uncontrolled speculation on King Dick tools. Please consider all those without the huge resources and allow the market to seek a natural balance and price. Once Gordon corners the market and holes up in his fortress will he just watch and laugh as the rest of us face an inevitable destruction because we can't find an original kit for our cars? Of course!! lol
Bill Young
Hi Bill yes of course I will lol gordon
g c pugh
| Gordon I have been manning the ramparts of Chez Gyles for your boys but I have now listed them as 'no show'. May be they are terrified of my armoury, attached for your info and interest. Everything has a price. Steve

Steve Gyles
Steve and I thought I was strange lol Gordon
g c pugh
Steve, Those are great! I really like the way these old tools resemble medievel torchure devises.
James Johanski
Hi James looks more like Steve was about to put on a kilt and dance the Highland Fling, a scottish dance where they dance over crossed swords lol gordon
g c pugh
Gordon The picture does not show the sharpened edged of the jack handle shaft. Tartan rug kept in the boot. It's taken you all a very long time to work out the Scottish connection. PSJ 903 is a Scottish registration. Lived up there for 4.5 years. Crashed my jet there. Steve
Steve Gyles
Hi Steve and I am Scottish ,oops Gordon
g c pugh
This thing between the Scots and the English, has been going on for some time now. Is it because Elizabeth took Mary's head?
James Johanski
Hi James you are quite right it's been going on for a long time but what the english don't realise is that Scotland won, just ask yourself is the prime minister english or scottish and you could ask that question about a lot of the people in government making desisions for england, a Stealth invasion" me thinks lol gordon
g c pugh
Gordon I would keep quiet about "..is the prime minister english or scottish.." Not the best example of putting forward the Scottish case! James More Scots appear to enjoy the benefits of living south of the border than vice versa. And you can't get much further south in the UK than Gordon without getting your feet wet - There you are, I (as an Englishman) tend to refer to the joined up countries that form the British Isles/UK, whilst the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish more frequently refer to their country in isolation. The Scotts appear more patriotic than the English. Ask an Englishman his nationality and he will say British. Ask a Scot and he will say Scottish. Steve
Steve Gyles
Hi Steve, I should have added that it was not a good thing to have all these scots down here, and why can't the english therefore go and have a say in the scottish parliament, you will gather I have no love for scotland and in particular their politicians lol gordon
g c pugh
As far as we Colonials are concerned, you are all Poms. Some just talk funnier than others. TT

My great great grandfather James Cunningham Brown emigrated to America. His eldest sons were born in 1870. They were my great grand father Robert Bruce Brown and and his twin William Wallace Brown. Guess where James was from?
R J Brown
With names like he gave his sons my guess is Wales ;-) (dodges thrown objects) What's important is did he bring any King Dick tools with him when he immigrated?
Bill Young
James, look what you've done! buying those tools was the straw that broke the camels back and now Gordon is selling his beloved car! How can you be so mean?
Neil McGurk
Gordon A cracking MGA King Dick Jack And handle has just come up on Ebay. You have got to stop James cleaning up the market. You should have the funds, now that you are are selling the car! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Original-MGA-king-dick-jack-concourse-item-complete_W0QQitemZ180230167708QQihZ008QQcategoryZ27380QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Steve

g c pugh
Soon they will be mine, I say, MINE!!!!!

Rather than starting another thread on my favorite topic of Shelley Jacks, I thought I would steal a post on this thread. Just spotted an LJ21 on Ebay. This was issued with the Austin Healey 100-4 BN2. The seller is asking an incredible £325 ($650). Has the world gone mad? Have James and Gordon got such a grip on the market that prices are soaring? Are Shelley Jacks the new gold in times of recession? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Rare-Shelley-Jack-LJ21-Ideal-Classic-Car_W0QQitemZ230221561288QQihZ013QQcategoryZ31347QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem Steve
Steve Gyles
Steven, Yes, King Dick and Shelley are now the new gold standard.
James Johanski
I don't know if this is a limeric or a rap, but I sing it to myself, as I travel down the road. I once had a jack named King Dick Which could raise my car in a nick Who would ever have thought That something wrought Of iron Could perform such a trick
James Johanski
James Oh no, not another Glenn! Steve
Steve Gyles
Steve, I am afraid no one can replace Glenn as the Poet Laureate of this BBS. Gordon, Please come back and spin us some of your incomparable dittys.
James Johanski
Ahem...... I come from a trek to dear eBay, Wot! A King Dick! $375! I say!!! but coveters don't you fret, there's a Dick for you yet and it's only $36 you'll pay!! That last line could use some work, I know. BUT there is a King Dick jack currently for $36. I've written and asked the seller to identify any other markings on the sides of the jack. There must also be someone living in lala land while living in La, because he/she's asking $375 for their King Dick. Maybe they popped in here while all the talk was going on about buying this King of all Dicks. Jackie
Jacqueline Peabody
Jackie, Nice ditty! Actually that King Dick for $36 is a good value. Generally they go for about $100 to $125 and that is with no bars. The bars are more rare than the jack. The jack in Louisanna for $375 is wishful thinking. Here is what I have noticed for original genuine tool pricing on recent E-Bay auctions. Jack with bars=$250+ Jack no bars=$125 Tool kit complete=$500-$750 Hardest parts to find for a tool kit are the Tommy Bar, a genuine King Dick feeler gauge, the Lucas points gauge/tool,the phillips screwdriver, and the spark plug tube spanner which is the largest of the tube spanners.
