MG MGA - paint

I am trying to find a gold color paint for my 59 mga. I have had no luck at any of the paint stores. I realize it was not an original color but I really like the look. Does anyone have a code or know how I might find a color?
Thanks

When I came to paint my hood frame/sidescreen frames I got hold of an RAL K7 paint swatch which has around 200 standard colours and picked the nearest to the original colour. Then I ordered a litre of the paint by the RAL number (nitrocellulose RAL1019 for me) from Ebay. When it came it was a perfect match to the swatch.

It's no good picking a colour initially from your computer unless you have a calibrated monitor. The RAL colours in my swatch are nowhere near my on screen colours.

I've just had a look in the K7 swatch and there is a metallic gold called Perlgold with number RAL1036.

Any good car paint shop over here would be able to mix a paint to an RAL or even a BS colour code. RAL are the German colour standards and BS the British. Maybe there are different standards in North America.

One of our local members has painted his MGA in a Mercedes metallic gold, and it looks great

Wasn't MGA #100,000 done in gold?

Yes, the 100,000 MGA was painted gold. See discussion on Barney's site at RT-503 web page, with links to other articles about the restoration. Nice shade of gold IMO, you might be able to contact the owner to get detailed paint information, the work was just completed a few years ago.

Thanks for the help regarding the gold paint. I did contact the owner of the 100,000 mga but he was not willing to share any information. Dominic in Switzerland mentioned a merecdes gold metallic. That sounds like a possiblity but all the paint shops want to know the code, year etc. Dominic if you could gather any of that info and pic if possible it would be greatly appreaciated.
