MG MGA - Photo Annotations
Hi guys. Not really an MGA question, more of a computer query. What software can I use to add captions, arrows, highlighted lines etc to any photo I post on the forum? Regards Dave |

PhotoPad Image Editor but there are many such for free |

I use Microsoft Powerpoint. When I go to 'save as' I use the 'save as type' dropdown menu to select 'JPEG File Interchange Format'. This saves one page of images, arrows and words into a JPG image size suitable for this forum. Steve |

One visual example worth a thousand words. Picture shows 'save as' in Powerpoint. Steve ![]() |

Thanks Art. I’ll give it a try. Dave |

If you're running "Windows", there's a standard application called "Paint" which will allow you to modify photos. Just key in the word "paint" into the search window and the application should appear; click it on and then drag in the photo you'd like to modify. |

Another vote for MS Paint. |

I’m no computer buff so a bit surprised that no one has suggested the easy way of annotating photos on an iPhone or iPad. No extra software required, just use the inbuilt facility in “Photos”. Bring up the chosen photo, go to “Edit”, then the three dots at the top (more options) and then “Markup”. You are presented with different colours and thicknesses of pens or text and just draw on by hand. Any use to you? Bruce. |

Hi Guys. Tried to download MS Paint, but it doesn't seem to be supplied by MS anymore. I'm being directed to a commercial site which is trying to get me to download other software. Bruce, I've tried your suggestion , but can't seem to be able to add text. Photo pad Image editor seems to work. Many thanks Dave |

Dave, Why are you trying to download MS Paint? Are you running the Windows software on your computer? MS Paint is part of MS Windows. For iPads and iPhones my IOS software version on my iPad is 9.3.5 and you cannot add text to photos. On my iPhone with IOS software version 12.4 you can add text to photos. Mick |

Dave If you're running Windows 10, it's under 'windows accessories' in the start menu. If Windows 7 or earlier, I think it's just under 'accessories'. Hope that helps. |

A further update on Bruce’s suggestion is latest version of IOS inserts a text box Mike ![]() |
