MG MGA - Progress Update

I just got the fenders off and found some tin worm damage on the left F frame and rear fender dogleg. Fortunately, the right side seems in pretty good shape. Pics attached.

Well at least the tyres look OK Larry!

This car shows relatively light rust. Easily repaired. Study up on repair techniques. www.eclecticmotorworks.com is a good place to study. Barney clearly documented his rust repair effort of last year on his site.
Congratulation on the project.

This looks very familiar. I ran into this in March and had it repaired.

Here's a pic of mine.

Larry, -- That cancer is all the way through on both sides. It will look worse when you get the outer rocker panels off. Figure on replacing everything below the door sills. Once you start cutting it is often easier to replace a complete panel rather then making a patch. See the whole job start to finish here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/restore/rt601.htm

Greetings from SinCity,

Looks like an expensive love affair.
Better than most cars you see in your type of climate.Let me know if you need any parts...I've got a garage full.

Thanks all for the great suggestions and comments. The left side is definitely the worst as it appears the entire right side of the car has been replaced at one time. I'm pretty sure I can get by with some patches on the right, but I'm resigned to all new bottom rail on the left as well as a replacement patch on the right rear dogleg.

I'll be checking the frame alignment before I get too much further.

Wow, yours looks pretty comparable Randy! How long have you been working on it?

Car was finished 20 years ago. here is a link to Serge' site and a recent picture. This car was done in conjuction with the white car. The white car got all the best parts the red car got all the leftovers. Took about 2 years to finish both.

Randy, the red car looks darn good for having leftovers. I hope mine turns out as well.

That's why I'm afraid to take mine apart, once the rust falls out there will be nothing but a thin shell of paint that will collapse like a popped balloon!!
