MG MGA - QUALITY MG Grille Badge!!!
Sooo... I bought an MG badge for the front of my car but I'm not sure where from. I did notice a flathead screw was welded to the back of the badge so it could be attached to the nose piece. Today the piece of junk was popped off and is somewhere on the road and the "screw" is still on the grill. Does anyone sell a better quality badge? Or, is there a way to secure the screw to the badge? |

Per Barney, this appears to be an ongoing problem. Not sure where to get a good one. http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/faulty/ft033.htm |

They are all bad. Trick is to not over tighten the nut. Peter. |

Hi Gary Yes I had mine re-enamlled and re-chromed by the company that makes badges for Aston Martins in Birmingham UK. It wasn't cheap, about $150 but its a lovely job and it fits the grill nose properly. I can dig out the details if you want to go that mad. John |

That's good to know. You have a name or contact info for the company? Unfortunately, I am not sure if I even have an original badge, since my grille was damaged and replaced about 30 years ago. There's probably something on Ebay that can be re-enameled though. -Del |

Pretty easy to repaint it yourself |

Del WH Darby in Birmingham uk. http://www.whdarby.co.uk/category/services/ They actually list refurbishing old badges in their services. You can also identify an original badge by some small lettering on the back. I think its something like "fs" and its small and hard to find. John |

Thank you so much for that link! -Del |

The badge I knew I had didn't have the markings denoting original manufacture on the back, and the stud was soldered in place as described above. So that was a disappointment. I remembered having had another one, but it took me until now to find it. It has the correct marking on the back, and the stud appears to be threaded into a boss. The only problem is the stud is severely bent. I'm curious if anyone knows if the stud can be removed from the badge without messing up the boss? I'll probably just send it as-is to WH Darby (the enameling is chipped, also) and maybe they can also replace the stud. -Del |
