MG MGA - questions, questions...

I am re-installing my steering column and cannot recall where the lower mounting bracket and clamp is attached. Any advice or pictures? (I was a much younger man when I started this project!)

Also, my gauges are missing the mounting post nuts.
Are they 8-36 threads? I tried 4mm; close but not correct.

JP,

Where are you? I can bring mine over to look at.

I'm in Brighton

Hi T,

I'm in Midland; about 100 miles north of you.
(Thanks for the offer though!)

I'll look again more closely under the goal post.

Thanks,
John

This picture was taken looking straight up at the column mount at firewall.
Moss sells the knurled nuts, hand tightened, part # 360-370 for $3.05 They appear to be 8-36 to me though. I have only found 8-32 thread nuts.

Thanks, R J.

$3.05 for a nut! I have an 8-36 tap in my set; think I'll just make a batch of 'em. (I'm old AND cheap.)

With the proper nuts you can install the gauges without tools. The nuts are large, round and knurled. They are designed to be installed by hand. A regular nut could be used it would just be more difficult to use a wrench blindly behind the dash.
