MG MGA - Rechrome or new grill

Hello All! Happy Summer. (unless you are in the lower hemisphere)

My grill shell is start get "pimples. I presume they are areas where the underlying steel has rusted and starting to burst through the chrome.

What do you thing is the right solution; rechrome or get a new one.

Also, how is this approached. The slates seem OK, the badge is fine. Its just the shell.

Who makes the best fit nowadays? Can you just buy the shell.

Thanks to all!

Cecelia from Scarborough Faire makes the best new grills. All brass as original, based on original tooling.

I'd second Gary's recommendation of SF. As for re-chroming your original shell, you'll easily spend $1k or more to have this work done; costs are just insane. I've seen estimates approach $2k depending the amount of work a grille may need. As a comparison, one of those little cowl vent grills can run $100 or more these days for rechroming!
Nick Kopernik

I highly recommend the grill from SF, the quality is perfect and it fit without any modifications.

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback.

I hope its a good fit. There are signs that the front end of the car got dinged.

Cheers

I recently had an original 1500 model grill shell replated by JCP in Ohio for $600. It had a few dings, small bent areas around the edge, and a 1" crack, to be repaired. It turned out great, very satisfied with it.
