MG MGA - rubber bumper for door
What is the correct thickness of the rubber bumper on the B pillar where the door closes? Without the rubber, my door closes and latches well, not the case with the runner bumper installed. The bumper I'm using is a repro bit, and its on a coupe so there is only one. Maybe its too thick... Thanks, George |

Mine were way to thick, they are down to about a third of what they were. It's been awhile, but I believe I used a bench grinder to whittle away a little at a time. Good luck |

I used a sharp blade and then wet'n'dry paper to try and re-create the original shape and surface finish. |

I have done little research on this recently. Most of the rubber buffers being sold at the moment are either to large and the material to dense so it doesn't compress, or the other type are the wrong shape (they don't lip over the shut face plate correctly) but are compressible I found one good one in my loft (attic) and its about 10mm thick but made of a very compressible rubber which helps. |

I have excellent luck with Macgregor British car parts out of Canada. The rubber bits that I have had from them have all been good fit and quality. They have the door bumpers. Part number mgar-d6. http://www.macgregorukcarparts.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=MGA_R-Door |

John B Look at the buffers in the attached image looks like they have the correct profile - might be worth contacting NTG whose image it is to check they are still made to this profile and are nice and squidgy. Mark ![]() |
