MG MGA - rubber door sealing Coupé
As I was looking everywhere I finally looked in the catalogue of Moss USA and I found the rubber sealings I was looking for. These items are not mentionned in the Moss Europe catalogue ! Part nr 680-485 (2x) door sealing nr 282-245 pad r/h a-post nr 282-255 pad l/h a-post Does anyone know where to find these parts as I just got the message from Moss USA that some of these parts are not available. They could'nt promise to have them in a short time. Many thanks in advance. |

Moss Europe have some Coupe specific items here. http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=13484 don't know if it includes anything you are looking for. |

As you are in Belgium, Anglo Parts will have them...but be prepared to pay huge amounts! |

Please note that Part nr 680-485 (2x) door sealing is probably not the correct seal. A flat rubber piece with a tube down one side is supplied, whereas the service parts manual shows a right-angled cross section. It seems that this part was lost early in the life of our cars and an original seems difficult/impossible to source. If anyone has an original piece of this seal on a car I would be very interested in a photograph. Mark |

Hi Gary and Mark I know you have been looking for these seals I wonder if this Company http://www.coh-baines.co.uk/categories/Angle-Rubbers/ have anything that might be close cheers Gordon |

Hi Gordon, Thanks for that link - there are a couple of candidates there, if only we can find the dimensions (and relative softness) of the original seal. Thanks, Mark |

Dear Gary, I live about 40 Km from Anglo Parts. I know too well their price list. Everything is gold plated or at least silver plated... That is why I am looking elsewhere. Kind regards |

Hi Lindsay, I cannot explain why a company like Moss does have different catalogues in different countries. In the European catalogue there is no trace of the sealings I am looking for . Mystery ? Kind regards |

Here is another company who might have something http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/ If only someone had a original to get some pic's and measurements |

When I did mine many years ago I mated a 'ramsey' rubber seal with the 'snappon' seal. One end of the ramsey seal has to be cut off but the two parts go together well enough and push onto the lip upstand. Most integeal seals will not work with a coupe as it needs a very wide rubber seal that is also soft enough to collapse when the door closes. I think the ramsey was used on old jags. |

Hi J H if you need the correct seals for doors this chap has the correct ones http://www.clarkespares.com/doorseals.html expensive but they do work really well I fitted them on both my coupes and my roadster and they made a big difference to the way the doors fitted and closed especially on the coupes cheers Gordon |

Gordon, this thread is about the Coupe draft seals, not the normal furflex surrounds. Todd sells brilliant furflex ones, but not the Coupe "extra" seals. |

hi gary i thought jh cole was talking about the main door seals cheers gordon |

I have found information on the original seal AFH 4819, courtesy of Ian Bowen. Dimensions attached. Pictures can be seen on the other forum (MGE): http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?2,2865518,page=3 I would like to find some way of having these made if anyone has suggestions. Not being a simple extrusion will probably reduce any interest from the extrusion suppliers. Regards, Mark ![]() |
