MG MGA - Seat rails
I am in the process of cleaning up the seat rails on my MGA. I don't see any evidence of any paint on these parts, especially the upper rails. It is a little hard to tell if the bottom rail that attaches to the floorboard was painted as it is quite rusted. I suspect that the paint would scrape off quickly in any event. I would be interested to hear from other owners on what they have done to maintain these parts. John

I sandblasted mine and repainted with rattle can black. It will wear off but only at the contact points and I greased it up.

Yes, I shot blasted mine as it would have been so fiddly to clean manually and whilst they were there I had mine powder coated. They are a little stiff - I assume because of the powder coat but I assume this will ease over time as I use the rails...

John, I believe these were originally cadmium plated. I sent my seat rail slides and rails to CSR for zinc plating, a service that Todd Clarke offers. They came back looking great, although I realize that they can't be seen for the most part.

Okay - thanks for the responses. I think I will look into the plating option see what I can find locally.
