MG MGA - Sheley LJ23 55/ jack bag / speedo rebuild

Finally found what I have been looking for for years at Beaulie at the weekend, an untouched Shelley LJ23 55. My car was built on 12th 13th April 1956 so Im hoping the jack is correct for the car, Steve? Now I need a bag to put it in after a sympathetic restoration. Any recommendations for a correct period/material jack bag? Only posts I can find are several years ago.

Secondly I want to have my speedo rebuilt. Saw a lot of bad press her for some chap called Richard something. I met a guy at Beaulie called John E Marks who states on his card that he is the registered trade mark owner, British Jaeger Instruments Ltd. Anyone have experience of Mr Marks and his work? He also recommended Flannery Speedometer Repair?

Appreciate any comments.

Alan. Good find. Well done. They do not up in the UK very often. Do you mind me asking what the cost was? I try to keep up to speed with the going rates.

Barney shows the bags: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/tools/tf128.htm I have not researched where you can source them.

Hi Steve, thanks for your comments. I paid £100 for it and didn't haggle.

Yes I remember that bad press about a speedo repair man.

I used JDO Instruments when I had mine repaired several years ago. I was very happy with his service and his turn around speed, but have only used him the once.
He has quite a detailed website. Worth a google search to see what you think.

Alan,

John E Marks is a fantastic, exemplary auto instrument restorer. He used to own and manage Vintage Restorations I think located in Tunbridge Wells UK.

I have a feeling he only does Chronometric type instrument repair/restoration these days.

John restored my MGTF1500(1955) many years ago and they all still work like a charm including the clock !
