MG MGA - Shelley jack (again)

This is rare for the Aus. market, they don't come up for auction very often.

EBay No: 260210645499, a Shelley No 12 DL 51 Screw Jack

Claimed to be MGA.??

What is it worth in UK?

I have been talking separately with Barry on this one. To bring you up to speed on what I said, I do not believe the 12DL is an MGA jack unless it is specific to the Australian market.

The advert refers to it being in a 1600. My research says that the 1600 was normally equipped with the hour-glass King Dick and, according to Clausager, from chassis 93548(?)the MkII came with the Shelley LJ225.

Not much seems to have been said about the 6" rectangular base Shelley that came with the very early 1500s, but I am putting my money on the LJ23. Can anyone confirm or deny, please?

The 12DL is quite common in the UK. I believe I sold one a couple of years ago for about £5. The postage is normally more than the jack is worth!

This is what I have gathered to date on Shelley Jacks. The hard back and film version are still some way off! http://www.mgaroadster.co.uk/shelley_jacks.htm

Could this be 'the one,' Steve?

I can't make out the number on the casting, but overall it looks very much like the LJ225 for the late MGA which you illustrate on your web page.

Ken

That is the correct LJ225 for the late 1600 and MkII.

Just spotted this LJ225 Stateside. Have prices gone mad? Seems exceptionally expensive for a jack in average condition.

It is correct for the MGA but, as far as my research suggests, is not the correct LJ225 for the Healey 3000 and E-Type Jaguar.

That's the very same jack that I linked to in my post, although the link looks different. But here's a cheaper one (so far), a Lake & Elliot S421, which the owner says was bundled with T-series and the earliest MGAs:

I've not myself yet found a reference to it a an original part of the MGA kit.

Definitely not MGA, too high to fit!
