MG MGA - Sill trim
Time to think about my fender to sill joints. Who sells the best trim pieces for the bottom of the sills? |

I have the Moss ones and they are fine. Don't forget to paint them! |

Are they not stainless Dominic? |

Art, do you mean the bits that go on top of the rockers, or under them for approx the length of the car? The long pieces under the rockers are painted car color. George |

Mine are aluminium - (Aluminum for those who can't speak english :-) Whatever they are made from they should be painted The front hole of the front wing (fender) is not covered if they are fitted correctly |

No George, the long bits that go from Fender to fender. so far i have no holes drilled anywhere, as I fabricated bothe the inner sill plate and the bottom flanges on the fenders. Both 18 gauge. Is this trim like a U section, with nuts and bolts to hold the joints closed? Do you paint it after installation or before? |

Barney has a description of this trim installation on his website at his RT627A "instruction" sheet. The piece is sort of like a hollow oval, with the side that goes against the body open for headed screws. The Moss pieces are good repros of the original, and I think they come with the correct hardware, #453-098. They can be painted before mounting. |

Ok, thanks George. Moss it is. |

I see now. The finisher strips are just to hide the screw heads, not to close the flange joints! And as Barney says, you can add pop rivets as well. |
