Howdy all - I'm looking for someone that can restore & rewind the above here in the states. Does anybody still exist out there? MG.............Gary |

Gary, There is (was?)a shop in Vestal NY that still does this. I'm guessing there probably one closer to you..but, if not, I'll get contact info. GTF |

I can buy a Bosch SR192X starter for $52.49. Why would you want to repair a starter? Even Moss sells the generator armature for $42.95. I cant understand Why? |

Thanks to those that took the time to answer. GTF - I contacted Tony today, nice folks. They are a full service rebuild shop only, NO rewinding at all. RJ Brown - This is an original car, paint, interior, etc etc etc and I want to keep it original. Yep, Moss has armatures. The first one I got had a dead short! The second one I got had a dead short, need I say more. I learned from a fellow at Twist's that Lucas is now owned & made by a company in China. I don't KNOW that to be true for sure but the two duds make sense now. I don't want to spread false rumors, so someone please correct me if the China bit is wrong !!!!! Thx, Gary |

Wait a minute. Dead short from where to where? The armature windings have extremely low resistance. Resistance measured from one commutator segment to another will be nearly nil, and that is normal. If you have a short from the commutator to the armature shaft, that's bad. |
