MG MGA - Sun visors

A while ago I raised a thread on MGA sun visors and what was the original spec. The photos show the end product as close as I could get to something like the original -see Barney's. They're made from hardboard and covered in headlining material. Hinges were difficult to come by and these were from ebay.

JH. Those look really good and just what I need. Where on ebay did you find the hinges? New or secondhand?

Kudos, JH! That's a lovely piece of work.

SS, I spotted them on ebay after a long search, they were new and the seller said they were used for Aston Martin visors. I haven't seen them advertised anywhere but that's not to say they're unobtainable. You either have to buy old visors from an A30 or similar and renovate them or keep looking on ebay. I think Holden had some hinges a while ago.

Hi does the stiching go through the hardboard?
what are the dimensions?

Very nice original looking sun visors. Purchased mine from Moss and had the LOGO lasered on. The sun just happen to catch them and project them on the car.

RM, I made them at 370x115 mm, wifey did the sowing on the inside and then turned them inside out, the excess material was cut off as close as possible to the stitching or else it shows. The hardboard size was cut after the stitching so that it stretched the material the right amount. The open end was stretched over the edge of the hardboard and glued with contact adhesive. When finished they looked okay but lacked that factory finish look so I took them to my local car upholsterer and he did a sow line along the perimeter through the hardboard. You need to give him a trial piece first so that he can get the sowing right.
