MG MGA - Swivel link bushing?
Has anyone else seen a swivel link bushing with grease grooves like this (8 equi-spaced grooves) - it is fairly unusual as the swivel link is bronze (early 1500s) but I have not seen grease grooving like this - anyone know the source? Mike ![]() |

Another oddity - the bottom link is Made in Australia (conventional bush grease grooving). Mike ![]() |

Sportsparts in Sydney may be able to help with the Aussie one? Matthew. |

Mike: The radial groove bushings are the original style, as supplied with the BMC rebuild kits of the time. I still have one of those kits and it contains everything needed for a full rebuild; Unbrako bolts from Rubery Owen, distance tubes, thrust washers, seals and spacers, even welch plugs for the ends of the trunnions. And of course the bushings themselves. When I checked recently, the rubber trunnion and kingpin seals were like new. Quality stuff! Alex |

Having bought original BMC spares in the early 70s I never remember seeing ones with grooves but they sound a good idea to make sure the grease gets everywhere. Paul |

Paul: Correct - by that time MGB style parts supply would be the norm. I worked for BMC in the 'sixties and remember the parts situation for 'orphan' products like the MGA quite well. I will be back in Scotland for a few days at Christmas and will try to post some photos (if my workshop still has a roof). Alex |
