MG MGA - Tachometer needle

The needle will no longer stay on. It appears to be a press on fit but obviously my needle fit is now out of spec. I would hate to glue it on and face the difficulty of removing it in the future. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution that allows a future needle removal?
Thanks

One procedure for tightening loose clock hands is to clamp the barrel in a pin vise which will crimp it slightly and evenly. Select a collet that fits the barrel and be careful not to crush it.

A pin vise is an oddly named tool. Here is a picture of one they are used to hold very small drill bits.

Use a bit of thread or bearing lock - then it will still prise off when required in the future

Thanks for the ideas.
Dominic's response gives rise to the idea of using something to enlarge the attachment protuberance on the needle.
I have attached a picture of my tach with the needle lying at the bottom of the gauge. Note the thing [quadrant?]that the needle base attaches too. There is a small protuberance on the needle base which fits into the hole in the quadrant attached to the instrument. The needle base protuberance is now too small to stay in the hole.
I am wondering if the quadrant is supposed to slip off a pin and stay with the needle & needle base.
Maybe an easy release glue of some kind is the answer.

That bit is just a moulded fitting onto the bass, so you can just superglue that bit back on - It's the brass bit that has the precision fitting onto the spindle.

Thanks Dominic. talking about an issue and trying to describe it is always helpful for me and of course the feed back and advice is super.

I am intrigued by all the labels and plates at the edge of the photo - what are they?

In the late fifties and early 60s I owned a 1957 MGA 1500 that I raced and rallyed extensively for about 8 years. When I sold the car I kept the dash plaques that were commonly given out at larger events. A couple of years ago I bought a 1960 MGA which had been disassembled in 76 , a restoration had been attempted and abandoned. I did a complete restoration and attached all the old dash plaques I could find onto the new MGA. The picture shows my first attempt, using double sided tape, to attach the plaques. I have since redone the attachment with better tape since the first attempt failed in a few months.
