MG MGA - Tag on radiator top tank
There is the remains of a light tin tag on my radiator top tank of my MGA MK1 1600 , it is 4 1/4 inches long X 1 1/4 wide held on by 2 small bolts Can anyone tell me what it is and if replacements are available. Thanks George |

Thank you Dominic, do you know if that plate actually bolts on to the finger guard, also are they available. Regards George |

In early cars the maker's tag was soldered to the rear side of the top tank. For later cars it was spot welded to the the fan guard. http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/cooling/cool_100.htm |

Thanks Mick, can't see the same plate as I have on my Radiator finger guard, any info on that plate has been eaten away when tank removed at some time. |

George, - Send a picture of the tag. It may be aftermarket, or a work tag from a radiator shop. Original tags were either soldered or spot welded, never screwed on. |

Nothing much left of this tag Barney, it's made of very light Aluminum, I initially thought it was tin it's 4 1/4 long X 1 1/4 wide fastened with two small bolt and nuts. the top side is mostly eaten away across the surface, underneath shows no sign of stamping, I think it may have been a radiator repair shops tag. regards |
