MG MGA - Temp Gauge Sensor, OUT
Patience and persistence. Very good note. Water elbow took several days, and then, so did the sensor. Photo says it best. Thank you, Barney Gaylord and Bob Walker, et al. Carburetors next off. Excelsior! Steve Lofaro ![]() |

Before you put it back, you should put some "never seize" on the bulb and on the threads of the nut. Peter. |

Peter, Thanks. I will look for that and use it. My use of a needle probe probably contributed to some of the filings filling the threads and preventing the release. Sometimes we cause our own problems...ha ha. But with a good air hose blow out and some proper pressure and penetrating oil...and wiggling...it did release in good condition. I love this funny little car because I can work on it and it is just simply so much fun to drive. Steve ![]() |

Before you re-assemble, screw a brass socket into the head, (available from plumbing suppliers). This will provide a brass-on-brass fitting and the bulb will never stick again. I have used this modification and found removal very easy. Barry. |

That's good practice Barry - discussed at some length on a thread a year or so ago . The Thread is 1/4 - 19 BSP according to Barney's site - http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/dash/dt102d.htm I attach a photo of said brass insert from the previous BBS thread. ![]() |
