Hello, What size and kind of tool is needed to remove plug in rear end. Thanks, Neal Turner |

Take a 1" long hex head bolt, about 5/8 dia, and grind a tapered square end to fit the hole. |

A good hardware store, not Wall Mart, should have what you need. It is 7/16" on each side. I have seen them at Harbor Freight but it was a box of 60 of different sizes. Tony |

See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/tools/ts204.htm My favorite is the $1 socket drive 3/8" to 1/2" adapter with ground down output end (picture here). ![]() |

I took an old 1/2" drive extension, and ground it on two sides so that it is 7/16" square, similar to what Barney shows. |

I just use a 3/8 drive ratchet. A loose fit but gets the job done. Cheers, GTF |

Mine was totally chewed and seized up pretty tight by the DPO. I used a hammer and chisel to rotate the plug - got the job done! |

I have a multi drain plug tool made by DRAPER in the UK. You will find it on their web site under auto tools - it looks like a black dog bone, and has 8 or 9 different tools on it. These are on ebay in the UK for about $6 each. Peter. |

I bought one on ebay recently. description: Drain Plug Key - 3/8"/11 mm Sq. The 11mm square is a perfect fit. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220517469445 |

Note that if you have a B rear axle fitted, as some do, then the level plug has a different size square, I'm told. Peter. |

Made of solid gold by the looks of it John! |
