MG MGA - Top Gear the Cool 500 book
Noticed the book in a shop today, had a quick check and yes, you can rest assured the MGA is one of the coolest 500 cars according to Top Gear. |

Hi JB - we don't need Clarkson to tell us that we have a cool car do we? Only last month I was driving the MGA and at least two young lads shouted out as I passed - "Wow - Cool car mister!" |

Yours is obviously a nice one too Cam. I get it all the time round here; typical is - "Like your car mister!". You have to wave back and say "So do I", don't you. I think the word 'mister' from lads in the UK nowadays must be showing that rare thing with kids now - respect? Must mean something... I went to see a private car collection last weekend (near you Steve) there must have been 50, many rare concours cars all taxed & insured to go - there was a perfect MGA1600 in there - it was still the only one I wanted to drive home! What a shape... Pete |

Being approved of by Top Gear, what a disappointment. At least you didn't buy the book. Malcolm |

'Cool' is hardly an appropriate word for many MGAs! I drew up to traffic lights once with a police car right behind me. Over his inbuilt tannoy system he broadcast to the world that my brake lights were not working. I pushed on the pedal with all my strength and they finally lit up (switch was on the way out). A few seconds later as we drove off he then broadcasted: "Nice car". Made my day. Steve |

I have to admit that I would have been disappointed if the MGA hadn't beeb included. Picture in the book was of a deluxe roadster in Old English White, a nice looking car that captured the model well. JB |
