MG MGA - Turn signal switch needed
The self cancelling feature of my turn signal switch doesn't work. On disassembly, I found that the "ears" are broken off the internal piston (see attached image). Does anybody have an old broken switch with a useable piston? I'd hate to have to scrap this switch as replacements are outlandishly expensive.![]() |

Hi Andy , Did you try to repair it ? If not , try to reshape those ears with ( Metal Magic Steel ) from Loctite . I know that your piston is bakelite , but it may work . I know too that Loctite make several kind of that paste for differents use . It works for many applications for me . It can be sanded , drilled and threaded too . Look to : http://www.loctite.sg/sea/content_data/93800_FixMMSEN.pdf Good luck , Jules jdesb@videotron.ca ![]() |

Good idea Jules. I'll give that a try if I can't find a doaner switch. |

Gave the repair a try but so far no luck. There is very little surface area for anything to bond to and it's under alot of stress when the switch is activated. |

Try drilling and tapping a couple of posts ( M2 or equivalent) then cast around using "liquid steel". Mike |

Andy, I can get a new turn signal switch if you have not gotten one or been able to repair your old switch yet. Send me an e-mail at bscr@bscr.com. Thanks, Ken |
