MG MGA - upholstery tip
I am installing a Moss interior kit in my MK11. The side pieces that are behind the seat have three holes in them for the top frame bolts. The holes are in the backing but not in the vinyl. To make the holes look round and finished I : #1 sprayed 3M #77 on the back of each hole and let it dry. #2 cut the vinyl into 6 sections like a pie (see picture, don't cut to the edge). #3 pushed a 1/2 in socket through the hole. # 4 folded each of the six cut pieces around the back glued down in the #77. Leave the sockets in overnight to leave round holes.

Uh, why bother? Are you planning on leaving out the top frame? (Please say yes). I just installed one for a friend last evening. We just razored a star shape cut in the center of the hole to allow the bolt to go through. Then the top frame mounting bracket covers it all up.

J R Very nice job. Most people just cut the vinyl and push the bolts through. You did a very nice finishing job. Class work. David....

You're OK,Barney. I'll bet you don't have 48 spoke chrome WW on your A.

Certainly not. Since chrome wheels were never a factory option, they essentially turn a nice MGA into a street rod. They may have been a popular period accessory, but by all rights they should result in a deduction of points in concours judging.

Say, speaking of chrome wheels, I was thinking of putting a padded vinyl top on my twin cam coupe... (Ducking and running...) :-)
