MG MGA - Vinyl/trim supplies UK

Does anyone know what the makers code on the rear of vinyl is? I am trying to obtain some replacement grey vinyl, and the symbol WS (plus a safety number) appears on the back. I purchased the original kit from Moss, who have their kit stock supplied from a certain Suffolk trim manufacturer. I approached the Suffolk people and they are making it very hard to supply some off a roll, as they say it is not their policy to supply lengths..finally said they would, but want to charge over GBP60 for 2 metres! ..retail at the likes of Woolies is only GBP11 pm! BTW, Duncan at Woolies was very helpful, but cannot match my original Dove Grey colour.
I have also approached Moss to see if they can help, but no joy yet.

Gary, Two vinyl suppliers over here with very large stocks are Martrim in Sandbach (www.martrim.co.uk) and Segal in Salford, Manchester (www.segalmotortrimmings.net). You don't get an idea of the stock at either of these two places from their websites. I'll be going to Segals next week so if you'd like me to ask anything let me know.

The stock at Martrim is really immense and I would say if they don't have what you want then noone will.

Segals started up just after the war so have probably been in business longer than most; I recently picked up some Ice Blue Everflex from there which had been in the basement since the 50s!

I would suggest you send them both a sample and wait for a response.

Martrim and Segals supply materials and they don't make up seats, panels, hoods, etc. On the other hand PJM in Market Drayton, who specialize in MG trimming, do make up these items but tend to buy in the materials to order.....................Mike

Any chance you could give a call re Segal? I'm on on 07802 170135, or would be happy to save you the call if you text me your number.

Mike,
Locating some Ice Blue hood material is a great find. Would it be possible to post a photo so we can get an idea of what the colour looks like? Obtaining some Ice Blue vinyl is like finding the Holy Grail, somebody once said.

Garry, I've attached a picture of the blue Everflex I got from Segal; I'm not sure if it will travel well over the internet. For comparison I've included a piece of white paper and a recently painted Iris blue part. It's a super match for the paint.
There does not seem to be any greenish tinge to the material which has been reported in one or two places for the Ice Blue colour. I have seen reference to Everflex producing two colours 'Ice Blue' and 'Light Blue'. It may be that the Ice Blue came out first and was found to fade quickly to be replaced by Light Blue made to a different recipe. I might try and leave a piece out in the sun to see if it goes green! ...........................Mike

Mike, Thanks very much for the photo,as you say a good match to the Iris Blue paint, also neat idea to include white paper as a reference. I will keep photo on file to aid in my search for some old stock material. Although, as you mention, it may be 'Light Blue' Everflex, rather than 'Ice Blue'. Garry
