MG MGA - VISITING ENGLAND IN AUGUST

I will be flying to England for a car show for Magnette's August 9-11. What other events are going on during this time. I am also looking for unusual sites to see and visit not just the typical tourist sites. Any help will be appreciated. I will have a auto to travel in.
Thanks

Looking for somewhere unusual to see.Try the Liverpool Brain Museum. It's exhibits are extremely rare.

Hi Cam.Only joshing.

Jeez,I'm getting like the late unlamented Mega.School hols approaching along with the bored Troll season.
M Blencowe

Jeff, are you going to the MG European Event in Aviemore the following weekend?...we will be there.
Gary Lock

Hi Gary,
Tell me more about this event. I will have 2 weeks there. It would be great to see you again and your wife if she is coming too. I am leaving my Warden at home so I am a free man!!!! So good to hear from you.
JEFF BECKER

Cheek Marc - in fact Liverpool Brain's aren't rare - they are well prized second hand as they are hardly used!
Have fun in your visit to UK Jeff - There is the MGA Day on August 4th but it is going to be a bit early for you.If you are in the North West let me know .
Cam Cunningham

On Sunday the 11th, in the square in the middle of Warwick (which is quite near where you will be) is a free classic car show. people with classics just turn up and park on the square. Might interest you.
Nigel Munford

Please keep the helpful comments coming. I need to fill up my two weeks with things to see and do. Thanks

Jeff

Can you give us some idea of the general parts of the UK you intend to take in so that we can narrow down our suggestions.

The National Motor Museum at Gaydon near Birmingham may be worth consideration;http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/visit/#.UeJuyNKsh8E

Cam.Knew you would appreciate it.I met a bloke once in Liverpool who said he had brother in the University.I was astonished that anybody could aspire to such a level of education there. Turned out he was in a jar.
M Blencowe

And another thing.Cam are you actually going to the MGA do at Alcester 4 AUG( helluva way to commemorate the start of the Great War)? We will probably go in the F as we are NT fogies. But I am always on the lookout for 776 CLU( are you out there?).
M Blencowe

I start my adventure near Coventry. I can drive to anywhere. Any boots sales anywhere?

A must for anyone touring Britain by car is to get a copy of the 'Good Pub Guide' and you can virtually guarantee getting a good meal and pint. Take advantage while you can because the next time you visit there may not be any pubs left: they've been closing at the rate of 1500 or so a year for many years now........................Mike

The Shelsey Walsh is a good call Nigel - wish I could go. I am going instead to the Tatton Park classic show near Knutsford Cheshire on that date. Choice is yours Jeff.

Marc - not sure about the MGA day although a friend of mine wants me to accompany him in his MGA - but I only return from hols the day before so driving 150 miles and return might be a bit beyond me . cheers Cam
Cam Cunningham

Jeff, you say that you are starting in Coventry.
I live not far from there.
The two events that have been mentioned -
MGA Day in Alcester
Warwick Retro
are both very close by.

E-mail me off line - jerrybirkbeck@btinternet.com

Look forward to hearing from you

Sincerely

Morgan Motor Factory in Malvern. They have tours, and usually allow you to wander around.
Nigel Munford

Nigel - I think you have to book the tours - and they are probably booked up months in advance.
