MG MGA - Washer pump wanted/ dashboard resto

Restoring my MGA Coupe dash and hoping someone has a suitable washer pump for sale. Preferably original, but will also consider the white tudor pump!

For interest point, it is a 1960 coupe - dash has welding marks at each edge, which if cut along would produce a roadster shape dashboard.

Can anyone recommend where I can source the correct colour vinyl in the UK? I have samples in post from Woolies.

Thanks

Jamie

Apparently the Coupe dashes were all welded that way. Maybe that's one reason why they were also vinyl covered.

What colour is the vinyl? I have some samples from Newton Commercial. The most difficult part might be to find the correct grain depending on colour.

Thanks for replies. Barney - I am using your site to aid my dash resto, very useful indeed. Also plan to follow your instructions for repairing my recently purchased turn signal switch.

Vinyl is red and intending to keep it this way. What should the grain look like? I think that the vinyl I have removed is not original as the dash has what looks like angle grinder marks, not to mention plenty of extra holes that shouldn't be there. Time to learn how to weld...

You are in luck! Newton Commercial have a vinyl that is the correct grain and a perfect colour match. It is sold as Mini Tartan Red. If you give them a call they will send you a sample.

Thanks for your help, sample in the post!

To fix extra holes in the dash I have glued coins to the back with epoxy and then used filler to make good on the front. Works a treat, and the coins are a mix of the countries where the car has lived in its life.

I also have a couple of the repro pumps around that have a hex shaft instead of the round shaft. Mail me if interested. They need attention, and the best fix is a couple of aquarium non return valves in the hoses.
