MG MGA - Waxoyl in Australia

Does anyone know if Waxoyl is yet available in Australia? Many years ago, I approached Hammerite in the UK (who apparently own Waxoyl) to see if I could obtain distribution rights in Australia. They were completely unhelpful, and said that as far as they knew, the Ampol oil company had bought the rights many years ago, and they had no intention of selling the product here. Ampol is no longer a business, so I was wondering if any other enterprising person had followed this up? I remember Hammerite saying that if I wanted to follow it up, then I would have to fly to Singapore to meet a rep. there...they obviously were not to enthusiastic about creating a market down under!

"they obviously were not too enthusiastic about creating a market down under" ..... I thought waxoyl was designed for down under!
Sorry Gary, couldn' t resist it. Good luck with your search

Make your own Waxoil, and you're in business (except for copyright on use of the trade name). See here:http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/restore/rt150.htm

An interesting situation, one that we've discussed before Gary, in relation to English companies not bothering to reply to queries from potential customers and consequently losing the business. In this instance we have another British firm that at least on this occasion, it seems, replied, but the company apparently is nonetheless disinterested in doing business with a potential customer, nor wishing to expend any effort to expand their potential market beyond its current extent. No surprise is it that so many UK firms have failed? As you expressed once before Gary, the "Great" has long since departed from the moniker of "Great Britain", in business matters at any rate.

At least MG got it right fifty or so years ago. Some British firms are not particularly interested in doing business with the people who live here!

About 20 years ago a friend of mine emigrated to Perth,OZ, taking his TVR with him - on finding there was no TVR dealership there he asked TVR if there was a possibility of him starting one - they wanted him to buy 10 cars and £30,000 worth of spares - that would be a "NO", then! I suspect Waxoyl would require a similar investment unless you had an established business operating in OZ

We could perhaps export some cricketers. Australia have a shortage of decent ones at the moment.

Now if only the Pommie cricketers, when they return home (soon!), turn their hands to car making, then the UK car industry might increase it's batting average and crowd satisfaction.
