MG MGA - What a mess...

This is what I found a couple years ago at the rear of an old body shop .

What do you think of that , a real mess .

Poor car , a very sad ending . :(

Target practice for paintballs?

That'll buff out!

And the last ...

Jules Desbiens

Looks like the body shop was using it as a drying rack to dispose of left over paint.
Barney Gaylord

I was thinking that too Barney.I can see it now, oh no we never dump any left over paint illegally,we always paint other cars with it.
gary starr

Doesn't look too bad from what I can see. I've seen worse up for auction on ebay and selling for thousands.
Maybe a customer was trying different colours to see what looked best but couldn't make their mind up! Is it still there?
Lindsay Sampford

That MG is just RIPE for restoration. It is already in BL racing colors RED OXIDE and RUST.
darnoc31

Agree with Lindsay it looks pretty solid to me

Mine was a wreck by comparison
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

Looks better than mine did

Jules..can you continue the story...did you rescue it etc??
Gary Lock

Just a protective layer of anti rust preventer.
What's all the fuss about?
Mark Thompson

Ok Gary ,

There was 6 years ago during my vacation in New-Brunswick ( East of Canada ) , We was traveling in a Motorhome so we can see farther than when we sit in a small car . Because of that I saw over the fences , all sort of British cars sit here and ther beside an old Body Shop .

I stop immediately my wife not understand wy but I had no time to explain and probably if I'd tell her , she would not agree...

There was some Triumph Spitfire , MGB's anging out in the yard .

There was a small barn with a huge pile of british stuff inside ( see pics ) and nobody around during couple hours I waited .

The MGA is probably still there , waiting to receive another coat of paint , but I don't know perhaps someone took pity , I hope...

Good damm

That is exactly what I'm looking for to build my MGA racecar.

Wrap it up and send it over to me in Denmark, and I'll make a super racecar out of it...and I would'nt touch the paint. It should look like that.

It would be interesting that all of you who have pictures of British cars in their states found, and would share with everyone. I personally pictures of a wreck of an Austin Healey 100-6, you will not believe your eyes.

the body looks worth saving to me!

Avez vous les direcetion ou il est?
Gordon Harrison

OK Gordon, none of that French Stuff here. Not everyone understands it, and you'll be about the only person who can read the directions [as posted in french].
We'll not stand for this type of hijack.

Mike Parker

Some are sacrificed so others can live on. Here is a picture of me in 1984 removing parts from HMK 43 59778 for my coupe, from a junk yard in Wisconsin. There was a really picked over mk2 roadster there too.

gary starr

Gary, You are so right! "others can live on."
Below "As found" and next (and years of work and $ later) a "winner".

Barry Gannon

Then "a winner".
Barry

Barry Gannon

Mine as found, still working on making it look better.

L Wheeler

Taken about 9 years ago from a farm in Michigan where I bought some parts. The barn behind and surrounding yard was full of MGs, TRs, Alfas etc. I could have spent a week there browsing. When telling me how to find the place the owner said "There will probably be an old sports car for sale by the mailbox." And there was... a TR2, in solid restorable shape.

Ralph

L Poupard

Ralph,
I know the fellow, Wyatt Wolcott. He used to post here, maybe still browses occasionally. He has a lot of cars.
Mike Parker

Gordon ,

I remember it was in New-Brunswick , I can try to find where , with the other pics taken during that trip I hope there was a road sign or something like this that could give me a clue.

I'll keep you inform .

Jules .
Jules Desbiens

Mike,
I remembered his name, but I wasn't sure if he would mind posting it here. I could never find the place again though. As I recall he was showing the MGAs under the lean-to to a guy who was looking for a restoration project. They weren't for the faint of heart, but as shown on this post, there are many that are even worse that have been saved. It always amazes me the heroic efforts that people will perform to resurect MGAs. They are truly timeless classics.

Ralph
L Poupard

Yes, Wyatt is still around, and dabbles with some parts on Ebay. Have just bought a kilometre speedo off him.
Gary Lock

Ralph, I don't think Wyatt would mind. If anyone is looking for parts, he is in Potterville Michigan, about 15 minutes or so west of Lansing Michigan.
Mike Parker

MIke,
You gotta do,what you gotta do to get the upper hand. lol lol lol
Gordon Harrison

Je suppose que oui, mais on aurait essayer d'être civile sur ce site, au moins.
