MG MGA - What can I do with my MGA

I fear I am faced, like many of us, to be stationed at home for quite a few weeks. So am thinking it would be a good time to do some work on the MGA.
An annual service is obviously the first thing to do, but would love some ideas of other jobs that might keep me busy?

One idea for others with the same predicament (I have already done it) is to increase the number of fuses to reduce the chances of losing the loom. Any other suggestions?

I have just watch3d this MGA video https://youtu.be/cpA1ohzcZys if anyone is interested. All pretty basic but as it’s MGA related it was nice to watch.

I was going to wade in here but I'll hold back if others can get you passed 20 ideas, if not the floodgates will open.

ETA: obviously I will include drive it.

The ‘sad’ thing is that the A has never been so well prepared for the start of the season so perhaps I will invent jobs.

One thing I did yesterday though following on the the discussions about carpets in garage was implement what I think is a better solution. I lay a dense rubber tiled floor along both sides and ends of car and by workbench. They are the dark grey ones rather than the multi coloured one with letters on that kids use. Seem very effective with right degree of softness and wipeable. Come from Halfords on line so no breaking of curfew.

The Lucas SF4 fusebox mounts using the same holes in the firewall as the original MGA fusebox, and also uses the same glass fuses. With four fuses it's enough to give a fuse for lights and one spare for modern accessories.

To fuse all lights just take the brown / blue wire from the A1 terminal on the regulator and move it to the fuse and run another piece of brown / blue from the other side of the fuse back to the regulator, easy to do and also keeps the colour scheme original.

That does sound a simple solution, and certainly a worthwhile improvement.
I followed Lindsay Sampford's helpful posting when I did mine (in archives under "Extra fuses re-think and re-work")

After tonight, you can cross "drive it" off the list

Unless you’re driving to the supermarket.

I am contemplating changing the mudguard (fender for you Yankees) piping using the Moss product. I have done two previous cars and has lasted well, no criticism from the polishing brigade.

As I mentioned earlier just laid these dense interlocking rubber tiles from Halfords they go all way around the A and in front of my bench. Sorry about ladder dominating picture but it is after all access to old parts store.

Jeanne doesn’t always approve of everything I do in garage but she liked these so much I had to move some to go in front of freezer. My first use of them was sitting on floor to assemble bird table yesterday and it was so much nicer than sitting on cold concrete.

Dominic Clancy Thanks for that tidbit of information. I just ordered 3 of them for my cars.

Graham V your link does not work.

Sorry - not sure what i did wrong but if you look for "Extra fuses re-think and re-work" in the archives, you will find it easily enough.

Paul
I have them as well. Have you glued them down? I just throw them on the floor/ by the car/ under the car, or wherever else I need them. I agree they make the job much more comfortable.

I'm thinking about removing the front splash guards to clean the back side of the wings and the body.

I have not fixed the tiles so can move them. Already reallocated 3 to in front of freezer at my wife’s request, after all freezer is getting a lot more use than A at present! I got 5 packs, 30 tiles, so have enough that basic pattern probably won’t change much.

You will also find them invaluable if you have to work outside on a car when the ground is wet
