MG MGA - white wall tires?
I will be replacing the tires on my '59 MGA--thinking of getting some white walls---anyone have an opinion as to what would look the best? Also advice on a good company to purchase from----thanx in advance--- |

Look best is an opinion, I prefer blackwall. If YOU like em you buy em. Any white wall will cost 2-3 times what a Kumho Power Star 758 165-80-15 tire cost me. Most of the whitewall tires are sold as "specialty" tires. Unfortunatly the Kumhos that I paid 35.00 each for seem to be out of stock every where. These guys have Nexen? tires. http://www.tirebuyer.com

I love the look of a wide whitewall on the MGA...but that's just my opinion. Check www.cokertire.com but be prepared as they'll cost you considerably more than either Kumho or Nexen tires.![]() |

I have 3/4" whitewalls on mine. I like them.....

Hey Andy---I think your coupe looks great with the whitewalls---how wide are they---?---thanks |

My 57 was delivered with WW tires. (sure wish I still had that car) I got some ribbing from some of the diehards of the time but I liked the look. No, the color of the car was red, not purple. Dave ![]() |

Thanks Tom. It's not a coupe though. It's a roadster that was wearing it's easter bonnet (an aluminum hardtop) for the photo. Here's what it looks like without the hat. The tires are Coker Classic which have a 2.25" whitewall.![]() |

I like them a lot on my car, but they are indeed pricey compared to blackwalls, and you may want to see a set on a car of your color before you get them yourself.

I have BF Goodrich Silvertown Radials. They're actually made by Michelin. They only make a batch up several times a year, so you might have to wait for them, but they are great. There are a couple pictures here: http://tildebang.com/mg/index11.html Discount Tire ordered mine for me. I think they go by different names in different regions of the US. |
