MG MGA - Who has red seat covers (not MOSS red)?
I am thinking of replacing the old red vinyl seat covers in my MGA. The car is orient red and should have a red interior according to the birth certificate. MOSS red is an off red maroon that contrasts and clashes with orient red paint color. Any suggestions? |

I bought the racing red covers from mirror trim in the U.K. These are almost identical in color to the original seats I had. I have had a number of cpomments that they are not the same deeper red that everyone else has, so they may be what you are looking for. I am still in Australia so I can't send a photo for another week. |

Bill, I bought my interior from Sports & Classics in CT; they have two different shades of red and offer samples of their product. If you have concerns about color match, do get samples from all suppliers before you make a decision. I chose the "Sierra Red" color from Sports & Classics for my A, leather & vinyl combination and I also chose to get leather for the cockpit trim pieces as well. It is really a very nice kit. http://www.sportsandclassics.com/buckingham-classic-interiors/ ![]() |

Hi Chaps Interestingly when I was restoring my Twin Cam coupe back in the late 70s early 80s I was able to visit connollys, the original supplier of leather to MG. I took along a snippet of the unfaded leather from below the seat and they were able to reproduce 2 hides for me from their records they retained. Not only did these hides give the shade of correct shade of Red but also the grain pattern. Anyhow, I still have a small section of this leather left and on ordering the Moss red leather covers for my roadster, recently, I dug out the Connolly supplied remnant and I was surprised to see the two were virtually indistinguishable for shade and very close on grain. So whilst I am not being very helpful to you Bill it does at least confirm that the covers being supplied by Moss this side of the pond are as good a take on the original darker red as can be. I wish you luck, Bill, in obtaining your correct shade of red. Mark |

I purchased a set of leather seat covers and trim from Bob West. It might be worth trying him. John |

NTG offers (or used to offer) what they described as a 'poppy' red. If that might suit, doubtless they would supply a sample. D |
