MG MGA - Will this early MGB gas tank fit?

Would appreciate any info on the suitability of this illustrated early MGB tank . Will it fit an MGA?

Thank you

ps

Not sure if this is a repeat of an early , possibly unsuccessful post?

Mark,
It looks good, but really, you are going to have to measure it to know.
Mike Parker

First guess is no, until proven otherwise. MGA and NGB tanks are different part number. MGA tank is slightly wedge shape and rounded top and bottom. Early MGB tank is also wedge shape, maybe thinner at the rear, and nearly flat on top. If you get the MGB mounting straps along with it, there nay be a chance, but I would be willing to wager against it.
Barney Gaylord

Certainly not with those tank straps, unless the other halves are not shown.

No.

I believe the filler tube is not in the correct location / angle.

Measurements on my (repro) tank as follows:-

Length = 24.75"
Width = 18.625"
Height at front = 7" approx.
Height at back = 5.5" approx.
Petrol filler outlet hole in tank = 6.25 from back and 3" from RHS (approx.)

I would agree that the filler tube angle looks different. Let me know if you want further measurements as my tank is out of the car.........................Mike
