MG MGA - Wind screen clip holes.
I have a windscreen from a 1500 that I wish to put on a 1600. The 1600 has a clip in the center of the top rail. It is used to help hold the top in place, at speed. Can someone measure the exact location and perhaps a digital photo of the holes and clip? Thanks, Tom |

The holes are centrally placed laterally and 1.125" apart with centres 3/16" from the inside edge (nearer car interior). The 1/8" holes are countersunk on the outside. I'll get clip photo when I've found it........................Mike

Hood catch and striker plate on the left from Todd Clarke and an original catch on the right. Todds parts are not 100% perfect with the loop twisted and they are nickel (or cadmium) plated instead of chromium as original. At first I thought he had got the MG logo embossed upside down but the original has it upside down as well! Unless,of course, my example is non original.......................Mike ![]() |

If anyone on this side of the pond has a used (undrilled) 1500 top rail they want to swap for a used 1600 with holes to save drilling let me know! |

Neil, Strangely enough my May 1960 1600 has an undrilled top rail - why it has the 1500 top rail I have no idea - it also has the 1500 battery cover without the side screen rest - I can only assume that this is because it was a European export model. I managed to get a 1600 top rail on ebay last year but haven't fitted it yet - bit nervous about taking the top rail off in case I break the screen. |
