MG MGA - 'Wind Wings', yes or no?
Should my MGA have them? First, (and most importantly) do they seem approporate, and second, do they even do anything of real value? I am confused. |

They were on my car when I first bought it - but they are an after market accessory - and probably a more recent one. I have used them for several years but having broken a second one - I decided to remove them altogether - there is very little difference with them - maybe a little less wind buffeting at over 40 mph but not much. |

I bought them, used them and removed them. Little or no help to keep the wind out and they interfere with the use of the sidescreens. |

I had the same experience as others and removed them. |

I love the look. Car seems incomplete without them. I had a glass cutter make me 3 sets years ago. She sent them out to be tempered after they were made. Does away with the hazy scratched plastic. |

I had them on my old MGTC but did not like them and took them off. My own preference is as much air blowing around me as possible; that is what I think open top sports cars are all about. You are probably all aware that in pursuance of my ideals I fitted the raked, fairly low cut sports screen. This in turn means that not only can I not fit wind deflectors, but nor can I fit the sidescreens and hood. I have never regretted a moment. The only concessions I make are ear plugs when on motorways and a scarf round the neck in winter. The MGCC also supplied me with a rather nice rectangular umbrella that totally covers the cockpit for use in heavy rain when stationary at traffic lights etc. As I said, my preference, but I fully appreciate and accept others ideals and requirements. I have had a pair of these wings on for about 3 years ..plus the sun shields. I find them useful ..especially the former but I agree they are not so pleasant aesthetically . They keep wind ,and more importantly , rain off me when driving . The sunshields are useless for duty with the sun ( a baseball hat is best ) but i am 186cm and they push the wind way over the bonce. Wind plus rain and occassional wind born objects of the solid persuasion are best kept out of the face. |

They do make a difference at highway speeds and keep a little more rain off you in those unexpected showers. I have a set and love the way they look! |
