MG MGA - Windscreen leak

Hey all, I am having the devil of a time sealing the "joint" between the top of the windscreen and "hood".I was told once that a length of tape is the best solution. If that is true, what tape has worked in the past? Painters tape? Thanks, Tom

I wonder if one of those self adhesive door & window draught-stopper strips would work?

I glued a black rubber seal onto the front hood bow and it has worked perfectly.

It is a soft hollow seal with the cross section of a "capital letter D" and it is approx 1/4" in diameter.
I used impact adhesive to glue it onto the hood bow about 1/4" from the front edge and it is runs continuously between the hole on one side to the other.

I should probably have fixed a bit of the seal to outside of the holes as I do get a little rain leaking through just there, but I havent gotten around to it yet.

Thomas,
Todd Clarke sells a perferct rubber seal which can be glued to the hood bow.

Do you have the centre clip to keep the hood tight to the screen? If not, you could install it.

If you have a centre clip and a good fitting timber front bow there wont be any gap between the bow and top of windscreen. Get this right and the problem is pretty well solved. A sealing strip may help bad fitting hood.
