MG MGA - Winning 1957 Sebring MGA Found

Breaking news: Yesterday (7 DEC2016) I received this picture along with the following note. This will raise a few eyebrows while we try to verify the car. If it is a real 1957 Sebring MGA, it will be a "found" member of the shrinking list of missing Sebring cars. Note the names stenciled on the wing (after repaint): "E Leavens, A Miller, R Keith".

We will be checking the chassis number. The drivers' names are shown on the papers retained from 1957 Sebring race.

Can't upload a picture at this time. See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/variants/sebring/1957_49a.jpg

I have no idea if its the genuine car, but it certainly looks well sorted with a nice ride height.

Great stance. 72 spokes? I like the windscreen.

If this car has been racing in the past few years as suggested, it's highly unlikely to be the genuine article...someone would have picked that up long before now.

I'll make sure our local Sebring owner sees this post. His Sebring no 44 is a Deluxe with peg drive wheels, etc.

Transpires it has never been "missing", is located in Ontario, and regularly races.
Gary Lock

Maybe it was missing for a while, but has apparently been back in operation for sometime. There is a picture from when the current owners "picked it up", before restoration, but so far no date.

The "E Leavens" would be Ed Leavens from the Toronto Ontario area, who I believe drove for the BMC team back in that time period. I recall seeing one of the "Sebring" cars at the Harewood race track in 58 or 59 and this could be the one.
