MG MGA - Wire wheel tubes
I got the new tires for my A with wire wheels. Do I need to replace the tubes or can I use the ones I have? If I need new tubes can anybody source them? I see prices from $9.00 to $30.00. |

Harking back to my times with wire wheels on a Sprite, I bought cheap innertubes on a number of occasions and suffered frequent punctures as a result. I took the advice of the Morgan garage who were the only people who had the "old" skills to replace a tube without damaging it in the process and bought the best quality I could get. Problem solved! The cheap ones were failing at the join in the tube. |

When replacing the tubes don't forget to examine and replace any of the rubber wheel lining bands that go around the rim and protect the tube from chaffing against all the spoke ends in the rim. |

The new tires will often have stickers on the inside. These need to be removed, because otherwise they can chafe the tube and eventually cause leaks. -Del |

I agree with all the above as its all happened to me. Tube-wise, i understand the best here in the UK for wires are Michelin. Pete |
