MG MGB Technical - 1/4 turn fastener for CB Battery lid

I installed the bin instead of the one 6 Volt Battery and this is now a perfect storage for the tools, Oil, etc.
......But a disadvantage is that I need still a screwdriver to open the 1/4 turn fastener. Does anyone know a alternative to this fastener with slut? Maybe with a Clip?
Suitable Partnumber or Company will be great.
Thanks a lot.

Haven't thought of it til now but I'd bet the Dzuz fastener used in GTs to hold down the spare tyre cover would work.

(Notice that I refrained from making slut jokes. ;-)

"But a disadvantage is that I need still a screwdriver to open the 1/4 turn fastener."

You mean you have an MGB without a screwdriver handy?!

I thought they were designed to be undone with a halfpenny...

File the edge of your glovebox key (the top square bit, not the key bit...) so it fits in the slot on the battery cover. Another good mod is to cut the cover past the middle fastner on the straight raised bit and hinge the section that covers the tool area. Just 2 fastners and you're good to go then. A small hinge from a furnature shop rivited on works great.

I filed a flat on a 2p piece and keep it in the ashtray.

Having said that, given the wide variety of tools and parts one is supposed to carry in the boot, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a suitable implement there!
