MG MGB Technical - 18v engine in a c/b car.
i have a 71 gt and a new rebuilt r/b 18v engine, also got the c/b engine mounts so to fit the 18v engine is it a case of changing the front engine plate from a c/b engine to the new 18v engine . will the timing gear etc fit back ok .thanks any help will be welcome.paul. |

You can do It. Retrievng an old type front plate will be worth it to comply the early engine mounts. The lone change was the engine mounts between C/B and R/B cars, so the timing remains unchanged. regards |

Assuming a 3-synchro gearbox hasn't found its way into the car over the years. If its 4-synchro it's just the front plate and mounts, but personally I'd put in the early double-row timing gear to move the power band up the rev range slightly. |

I have an 18V in my 71GT, as others have said, you just have to change the front plate, it's a very easy engine swap. |

Running an 18V in my 65 with the original GA plates. |
