MG MGB Technical - Alternative gearboxes
I know the Ford Sierra gearbox can be used, but are there any other 5 speeds that are simple conversions and not to difficult to find. |

s t I did the Sierra conversion some years ago and documented the experience in my first ever web page which is at the following link http://home.cogeco.ca/~bquartermaine/MGB/ I had covered 10,000+ miles when I sold the car some three years ago and never had one moments problem with the gearbox. I am careful to mention that had my MGB had an OD, there would have been no incentive to make the change. My current TR6 has an OD and I am equally delighted with it (althought the Triumph gearbox isn't so user friendly as either the original MGB or the Sierra conversion). Good luck, Barry |

A company in Oz (Dello...?) do a Toyota 5-speed kit that's supposed to be good. I did the Rivergate conversion, but you might not have a lot of luck sourcing a Datsun box in the UK. |
