MG MGB Technical - Body panels
I am after a right hand side rear quater panel. Moss Motors part number 457-440 refers with a price ticket of US$1015. To ship this to Australia would make the cost prohibitive. Does anyone know where in Australia I could obtain one at a sensible price. Many thanks. John...Sydney |

John Don't know if they still stock them but used to. I haven't dealt with them for a couple of years but their prices were ok then-- Cheers willy Heritage MG Parts pty ltd 97-102 Victoria st Smithfield -- mgcar@telstra.easymail.com.au |

Thanks William. I know this company and have tried them as well as Sportsparts at Thornleigh. They have quoted a price close to $2,000 and really this is not affordable. I will contact Kilmartin Sheetmetal in Ballarat today for they make MG panels for A's, B's and T series to see if they make the rear quarter panel. I have also contacted Ron Brayshaw in New Zealand he also manufactures panels however I await his reply. Fingers crossed. John...Sydney. |

That's a big panel, is the whole thing scrap? BMH in the UK are quoting £450, and that includes 20% VAT which you wouldn't have to pay. Even the full price converts to only USD700. |

John Is this what you're after--- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MG-MGB-GT-RUBBER-NOSE-RIGHT-HAND-REAR-GUARD-800058-/131537834711?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item1ea04412d7 |

John, welcome to the realities of living far away from the source. This panel is so bulky it certainly does cost a lot to freight, much more than the cost of the panel itself - even freight NZ to AU would be prohibitive. The ebay one Willy found looks a good deal. |

Hi John, This mob makes panels, in Ballarat http://www.kas-kilmartin.com.au/ I believe that they are one of the few that do them, world wide. Herb |

Thank all for your suggestions, The panel which Willy found on e-bay is for a Gt and not for a roadster. Sorry Willy my fault as I didn't state my requirement fully. I have tried Kilmartin in Victoria as well as Sportspatrs, Heritage Spares and Concourse Spares all to no avail. I have also sent an email to Ron Brashaw in New Zealand and await his reply. It looks as though I will need to repair the panel I have. I thought I may be able to take the easy way out but I guess there is no short cuts. Thank you all. John...Sydney |

John, the part number in your original post was for a GT panel, which probably confused people. |

That's what I was working on Dave - Gt There is a roadster one there but $$$$$ The guard has to be joined somewhere, maybe the GT guard could be modded to fit Here's the roadster one---- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MG-MGB-CHROME-BUMPER-ROADSTER-RIGHT-REAR-GUARD-/131537777999?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item1ea043354f Which part of the guard do you need, I have a friend who MIGHT be able to help with part guards, as in repair panels-- I can ask but would need to know exactly what you need and what year model as in chrome/rubber bumper willy |

Tyanks Willy, I took the guard to an old friend yesterday, he is a panel beater of the "old guard" and he saiod he would fix it for me. I didn't want to impose on him however he didn't mind. Thank you again for your kind offer. John...Sydney |

John, "Taking the easy way"". Even with new heritage panels this is often far from the easy option as they often need a lot of work just to get them to fit. Unless the panel is an out and out tissue of rust, I would repair anyway. |
