MG MGB Technical - demister tube

I discovered thetubes attaching to the windscreen demister outlets had fallen off on my 1975 mgbgt. I managed to re-attach the nearside one but can't see how to reach the offside. Do I have to dismantle the dashboard?
R E Merrall

If the corrugated plastic tube has come off the steel demister vent, it's quite easy to re-attach. A bit more difficult it it's come away from the heater box outlet, but both do-able without much difficulty or dismantling.
Allan Reeling

On the same lines exactly which joint needs reattaching? Check the two halves are round and not distorted. Sometimes it can be easier to detach the bit that is still attached and then attach the bit you found detached, a) to check it can be fitted, and b) it might be easier that way round anyway.

The one causing difficulty is the drivers side demister vent. The tube has fallen off and while it is easy to reattach I can't get a hand up to it. How do you suggest I reach it

Rod, What's in the way? If it's the speedo and/or Tacho, remove them to get more room.

Remove both of the air vents. A small screwdriver is enough to lever them out.

You should be able to attach the driver's side pipe.

Replace both vents then replace the second pipe as you previously managed to do.

"Remove both of the air vents. A small screwdriver is enough to lever them out".
The vents are attached with No 10 UNF studs and nuts!!!!
Allan Reeling

Does he mean fresh air vents?

I think you are right Dave, one of us is confused!!!
Allan Reeling

"I discovered the tubes attaching to the windscreen demister outlets had fallen off ..."

As well as that there's more to getting the fresh air vents out than just levering them. If you don't lift up/down the tabs on the inner corners before easing it out you are liable to break it.
