MG MGB Technical - Dirty copper break pipes?
Am in the process of cleaning up the engine bay. Would like to clean the copper break pipes. Any suggestions for cleaning and making them shine? /Moss |

Hi Moss, I would think that a domestic metal cleaner, suitable for copper, would work. Here in Australia a typical brand is "Brasso", which does brass and stainless as well. Herb |

I use the brasso/metal polish wadding as its easier to wrap round the pipe to polish it up compared to the liquid version. Ste |

Use a Scotch-Brite scuff pad. They look like these here: http://www.azautobodysupply.com/scpr.html You can easily wrap that around the pipes (loop it back on itself 180 degrees) then pull it back and forth to clean the pipes. You might get away with a standard pot scourer pad from the supermarket but I would just go to your local body shop/panelbeater and ask them for a little bit of the stuff. They have it on big rolls and will probably give you some for free. |

Yes yes Chaps, ok , I've seen it - 'brake/break'. I take comfort in my scribblings attracting a bit of attention! Thanks for the English lesson... /Moss |
