MG MGB Technical - electric washer pumps
Hello What electric washer pumps are everyone using as replacement? I have gone through 2 Lucas type GWW125 in the last 15 months and my MOT is due on 19th so need to get a working replacement sorted asap. To suit 69 GT Many thanks Mark ![]() |

Normally these pumps are mounted the other way up, the way you have yours water can leak into the motor, hence 2 pumps in 15 months, with your next replacement try fitting it the other way up.A.T |

I use a generic pump, from the local auto shop. Herb |

As Andy says I think your problem may be related to the orientation of the pump. I've had exactly the same pump fitted in the same place on my car for years and never had an issue. I suspect yours is fitted this way up so the in and out ports of the pump are on the correct sides. I’d replace it with the same pump mounted the other way up but this will mean a crossover in the plastic pipe. Bob |

Very many thanks to all, Bob you're correct the only reason I fitted it the way I did was due to the inlet /outlet locations. I have made a bracket to rotate the replacement pump (this is so I can re-use the captive nuts on the Heritage shell. Regards and thanks again Mark |

I have had two Lucas type GWW125 pumps grind a bit, squirt some water and then go up in smoke. I will check for a generic pump. |
